This research investigates the likelihood of female entrepreneurs engaging in serial crowdfunding activities. Using a dataset of 35,891 Kickstarter projects, the study employs a logit model to analyze the relationship between gender and the probability of launching a third crowdfunding project, considering the moderating role of project performance.

The findings reveal that female entrepreneurs exhibit lower levels of unjustified persistence compared to their male counterparts, often choosing to discontinue serial crowdfunding attempts following both successes and failures. This behavior is linked to the influence of gender stereotypes, which shape the decision-making processes and actions of female entrepreneurs in the crowdfunding context.

By highlighting these dynamics, the study provides valuable insights into how societal perceptions and biases affect female entrepreneurs’ persistence and engagement in serial crowdfunding. The research offers a significant contribution to the understanding of gender disparities in entrepreneurial activities, particularly within the crowdfunding domain.
