Balancing economic growth and environmental sustainability is a pressing challenge, particularly for a country like Indonesia which faces the dual imperative of lifting millions out of poverty while addressing its rising CO₂ emissions. The nation’s development trajectory highlights the broader challenge of ensuring that growth does not come at the expense of environmental integrity. Industrial ecology offers a valuable framework for designing systems that optimize resource use and reduce emissions, supporting sustainable development. This talk will explore these dynamics, focusing on Asia’s low-carbon future and the role of the International Society for Industrial Ecology in advancing solutions.
Speakers:
- Viktor Pirmana, Ph.D (FEB UNPAD): Towards a low-carbon future: CO₂ emissions and economic growth in Asia
- Professor Arnold Tukker (Institute of Environmental Sciences/CML, Leiden University dan Presiden The International Society for Industrial Ecology/ISIE): Introducing the International Society for Industrial Ecology
The seminar will be held in English in conversation format chaired by Maxensius Tri Sambodo, PhD (National Research and Innovation Agency/BRIN). On Zoom and Instagram Live.
